Tree of Life, Published

I'm so proud to have this pattern published in the Spring issue of Simply Vintage magazine. This is a wonderful "crafty" magazine with international entries. It has projects in punch needle, embroidery, rug hooking, wool applique, quilting and more.
I was inspired to stitch this wall hanging from a Swedish embroidery pattern from the 50's. I chose a light grey background for a Pacific Northwest sky; quite fitting.
Pattern and kit are available in my Etsy shop.

Complete!

I finished off by hand quilting all over the background wool with seed stitches in #8 perle cotton. I had added a thin piece of wool on the back first, to add more  substance when I quilted it. I made my stitches rather tight to give it a puckered look.
Pattern is available in my Etsy shop.

The stitches I used on this flower: backstitch, buttonhole and colonial knots. I used Cosmo Seasons thread for the center knots. It's a very nice hand dyed floss from Japan. Try it!

Close up

Closing in on finishing "sweet bouquet". On the large circle flower I couched some silk ribbon I had in my little box of wonders. I did some random seed stitching and added some beads. On the leaves I used this wonderful perle cotton from the Thread Gatherer. On the violets I did long and short buttonhole stitches which I like. I get bored using the same stitches, don't you.

Where Does the Time Go?

A Sweet Bouquet
It's hard to believe it's been nearly a month since my last post. We've been so busy with Olympic Wool Works. We've had 2 shows during this time and are now working on new orders. The weather here has been chilly so I don't  mind being in doors. Actually there's talk of some snow tonight. Brrr. But at least the days are getting longer.
I have squeezed in a little stitchery. This is a wall hanging which is nearly complete. A few more leaves and a bit more embellishing.
