The Gift: Part 3

Working on the background, my favorite part of the project. I made wavy lines in a darker blue, then filled in with a variegated one. (This is the back side).

When I finished punching, I trimmed the weaver's cloth, leaving about an inch all around. Lopped off the corners a bit. Folded and pressed.

A New Punch Needle Embroidery Project: Part 1

I started a new punch needle embroidery project. This one I call The Gift. Once I drew the pattern I then traced it onto the weaver's cloth using a light box. My light box is small, so it worked perfectly for this project. But when I have a larger pattern to transfer, I just tape it to my dining room window, tape the fabric over the drawing and trace away. Very easy....it just needs to be daylight.

This project fits nicely in my 8" frame. I left an extra 3" all around so I can stretch the fabric so it grips the teeth of the frame. I made a cover out of fleece so I can punch without pricking my hands or arms. Let me tell you the teeth are very sharp!
