SUCCULENTS, A Punch Needle Embroidery Project

After I'm done punching I trim away the weavers cloth, leaving 3/4" all around. Flip it over and press the corners inward, then press the sides. I use steam. I have started using a layer very stiff interfacing with adhesive on both sides. (That is the white material in picture #5).  I cut this slightly smaller than the punched piece. I lay a piece of wool over the interfacing and press thoroughly all 3 layers. I then trim the wool, leaving about 1/16" all around. I round off the corners of the wool. Then I whip stitch the edges, using pearl cotton and working from the back so that when I pull the thread, it pulls the wool over the weavers cloth so none will show. Please feel free to print a copy of the pattern. The finished size is 6" x 9". Oh, I decided not to add the little circles and the detail on the bottom of the pot. Kept it very simple. My favorite part is doing the background.

Wool Bundle of the Month Starts

I have decided to feature one new color of our 5-pack bundles each month...probably during the first week. These bundles will be offered at a special price, for the duration of the month, then will be listed at their regular price.

For the kick off this month I am offering 2 new colors: GERANIUM and TEABERRY  bundles as well as yardage in these stunning colors.

This may not be the case every month. We shall see how it goes. The response was very favorable for January and thank you to all who participated. Please sign up if you are interested in being on an email list. You can do so on our homepage at the bottom of the page.

Green Quillie Christmas Tree.

Green Quillie Christmas Tree.

I made another hooked tree using yarns, roving and ribbons. I have listed pictures in the sequence of assembly. I stitched the quiliies just with a couple stitches but you could glue instead if you prefer. I have also added a drawing of the tree with the quillie placement which you can copy and print.

Used a few of my "worms" .

Yarn selection.

Fold 1/8" and stay to roll.

Insert threaded needle all the way through, starting at the cut end.

Take another stitch.

One more and knot off.

Arrange to your liking and glue in place. Notice I made the quillies in various sizes.

Back side, after hooking...not pretty.  I added a star button and gold threads for a bit more embellishing. I trimmed the linen leaving an inch or so and folded inward and glued in place. I then glued a twig on the bottom and added a piece of wool, glued it, then trimmed away the excess.

Have fun making these. I look forward in seeing yours on Facebook!
