I'm just about finished with this project. I have embroidered the bird in greys and added a wool backing. I need to decide how to hang it. The next step is completing the pattern; writing it up, etc. and start making kits.

This is a new wall hanging I'm working on. The background color is called Stormin', a beautiful mottled blue. As usual I stitched a liner to the back fto add a bit more stablitiy. Also this time I used the paper templates as stitch guides, since it's difficult to draw onto wool. And it worked great. You can see I have the window pinned in place and I will couch red crochet thread all around it.Then I'll remove the paper and continue stitching the other elements of the window.

I
I basted a piece of muslin to my background before I started applying the motifs. I have found that I like this extra layering which gets a bit more stability when hung.
I did a quick baste to each piece then began stitching. I prefer not to use glue or fusible....just a personal preference again.
I am using simple embroidery stitches: running, whip and lazy daisy.

I started working on another Tree of Life: same pattern as before but in different colors. I had many requests for a kit so this is the reason I'm doing another piece. Sadly, I didn't keep records of threads, fabric color and size. So here we go.
I'm using Ecru for the background this time, mottled so it looks vintage. I will be posting more info as I progress.

I completed stitching this wall hanging! Knowing when to stop can be difficult sometimes, especially when I'm enjoying the process so much. I used scraps of fabrics for the border; pieces of linen and calicos. But the center area is all hand dyed wool which I dyed specifically for this project. I wasn't particular on thread brands, just used what I had in my stash. I'm not one who records numbers or names of threads; it's all about what pleases my eye. I did some shadow couching as a final step where I used some very old crochet thead which has a bit of sparkle blended in.
I plan to sell a template pattern, but one will have to create and design their own border. Making it scrappy like mine or maybe more traditional such as 2" woolen one. Limitless possibilities! I hope you like this design.

Started a new appliqué project, using wool of course but also some cottons and linens for the border. Designing as I go...
